On or about Monday, October 11th, 2021, around 5:20 in the morning, an accident between a tractor-trailer and an 18-wheeler left a 32-year-old Houston man dead. Troopers from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported along Interstate 10 just outside Sonora in Sutton County, Texas.
Texas DPS representatives said Yuniel Maximo Escalona was killed when his tractor-trailer was allegedly struck by an 18-wheeler that had crossed over the center line of Interstate 10. Paramedics pronounced Escalona dead of his injuries a short time after the accident. Police identified the driver of the tractor-trailer that allegedly crossed over as Mandeep Singh, who was unhurt in the accident.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is about 8 miles west of Sonora, which is about 171 miles northwest of San Antonio.
State and local law enforcement agencies assisted at the scene.
