Details:
On or about Tuesday, June 7th, 2022, around 2:30 in the morning, an accident between a prison transport van and an alleged drunk driver sent five people to the hospital. Authorities from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported along Interstate 45 in Willis, Texas.
Troopers from the Texas DPS said three as-of-yet unidentified prison staff and an inmate were injured when an alleged drunk driver in a pickup truck slammed into the prison transport van they were in along I-45. Emergency responders transported four people from the prison transport van and the driver of the pickup truck, identified as Ian Michael Morris, to the hospital with unspecified injuries after the accident.
Police have since charged Ian Michael Morris with intoxication assault in connection with the accident.
