Details:
On or about Wednesday, November 11th, 2020, an accident between a tractor-trailer and a police cruiser sent a truck driver and a Becker County Sheriff’s Deputy to the hospital. Authorities said the accident happened along County Road 21 in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota.
Officers indicated 46-year-old Matthew Gerving was driving a police car that was allegedly hit by a tractor-trailer that made a turn as Gerving was attempting to pass. Investigators said Gerving had activated the car’s lights and sirens at the time of the accident.
Police identified the driver of the tractor-trailer as Brian Aho. Both Gerving and Aho were taken to area hospitals to be treated for unspecified injuries.
State Police is assisting the Becker County Sheriff’s Office with the accident investigation, which is still active and ongoing.
