Darrell Vandergriff was killed in a commercial vehicle accident on Knudson Cove Road in Ketchikan, AK. Alaska State Troopers report the accident took place on Saturday, February 1, 2025, when Vandergriff was attempting to unload an excavator. As he was unloading it, the truck and trailer hauling the equipment began to roll down a hill, crashing into the ocean. Vandergriff was pronounced dead at a local hospital, and the investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing.
