On or about Monday, January 4th, 2021, shortly before 12:00 in the afternoon, an accident between a flatbed truck hauling steel beams and a car sent one driver to the hospital with serious injuries. Officers from the area said the accident happened on School Street in Walpole, Massachusetts.
Police said a flatbed truck pulling an oversized load of steel beams was allegedly backing into a parking lot when a car hit the beams. After the initial collision, the beams fell onto the car and crushed a portion of the cabin. Paramedics airlifted the driver of the car to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.
Investigators noted that the flatbed truck with the oversized load may have had two spotters, but authorities did not know where they were at the time of the collision.
Law enforcement representatives indicated the truck may have been leaving KW Steel Structures on School Street when the accident occurred. Walpole is located about 26 miles from downtown Boston according to Google Maps.
Police are still investigating.
