Details:
On or about Monday, February 1st, 2021, around 1:16 in the morning, an accident between a Ford Explorer and a tractor-trailer claimed the life of an 18-year-old man from Franklin, Tennessee. Deputies from the County Sheriff’s Office said the accident happened on the eastbound side of Interstate 20 just outside Kilgore in Gregg County, Texas.
Troopers from the Department of Public Safety said 18-year-old John Michael Harvey Jr. was killed when a tractor-trailer allegedly struck his SUV after it had rolled in the roadway. Harvey was ejected from the SUV in the crash and died at the scene of the accident. Police did not mention any other injuries in their preliminary report.
Interstate 20 runs east and west between Kilgore and Longview according to Google Maps. Kilgore is located roughly 119 miles east of Dallas.
Texas DPS and local law enforcement are investigating the accident.
