Details:
On or about Monday, April 26th, 2021, a single-vehicle box truck accident left one person dead and sent a 40-year-old man to the hospital. Officials from the CHP said the accident was reported on the northbound side of Highway 99 near the intersection with Manning Avenue in Fresno, California.
Police from the area said one person was killed and another was hurt when the U-haul box truck they were in allegedly veered off the side of the roadway and slammed into a tree a short distance off the pavement. The box truck burst into flames following the initial collision. The driver of the box truck was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, while a passenger in the truck was pronounced dead a short time after the accident.
Highway 99 runs north and south through the center of Fresno, while Manning Avenue runs east and west through the area, according to Google Maps. The intersection of Highway 99 and Manning Avenue is a short distance south of downtown Fresno.
Deputies from the County Sheriff’s Office assisted California Highway Patrol at the scene of the accident.
