On or about Wednesday, May 5th, 2021, around 7:50 in the morning, an accident between a pickup truck towing a trailer and an SUV sent five children to the hospital. Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office said the accident was reported along North University Avenue near the intersection with FM 1729 in Lubbock, Texas.
Police from the area said five children were injured when an pickup truck towing a trailer allegedly pulled onto the roadway from the shoulder and struck an SUV. After the initial collision, the SUV skidded off the side of the road and rolled several times. Paramedics transported five children in the SUV to University Medical Center with unspecified injuries. Authorities did not mention any other injuries in their preliminary report.
According to Google Maps, the intersection of North University Avenue and FM 1729 is situated on the north side of Lubbock.
