On or about Tuesday, October 6th, 2021, around 8:00 in the morning, an accident involving a garbage truck sent at least one person to the hospital. Officials from the VSP said the accident was reported along the southbound side of Route 17 in Gloucester County, Virginia.
Investigators said one as-of-yet unidentified individual was injured when a garbage truck crashed under unknown conditions. Pictures from the scene show the truck tipped to one side of the roadway. Emergency responders transported one person to a nearby hospital with unspecified injuries. Police did not indicate if the victim was in the garbage truck or another vehicle at the time of the accident.
According to Google Maps, Route 17 cuts north and south through Gloucester County, which is situated a short distance north of Newport News.
Police are still investigating.
