On or about Wednesday, November 24th, 2021, around 3:00 in the afternoon, an accident between an SUV and a tractor-trailer left one individual dead and sent a truck driver to the hospital. Officials from the CSP said the accident was reported along Highway 491 just outside Cortez in Montezuma County, Colorado.
Law enforcement spokespeople said one as-of-yet unidentified individual was killed when the Dodge Durango SUV they were in and a tractor-trailer driven by Paul M. Baker collided under unspecified circumstances along Highway 491. Emergency responders pronounced the driver of the Dodge Durango dead at the scene, while Baker was taken by EMS to a nearby hospital with unknown injuries after the accident.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is a short distance north of Cortez, which is about 381 miles southwest of downtown Denver.
