Details:
On or about Thursday, January 27th, 2022, around 5:00 in the afternoon, an accident between a passenger vehicle and a race car that had allegedly broken free from it’s trailer left one individual dead. Troopers from the NCHP said the accident was reported along U.S. Highway 52 just outside Pilot Mountain in Surry County, North Carolina.
Investigators from the Surry County Sheriff’s Office said one as-of-yet unidentified individual was killed when a race car allegedly fell from a trailer being towed by another vehicle and struck another car on the roadway. Emergency responders pronounced one individual dead after the accident.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is a short distance from Pilot Mountain State Park, which is about 26 miles north of Winston-Salem.
Officials are still investigating.
