Details:
On or about Thursday, January 27th, 2022, sometime in the hours after dark, an accident between a tractor-trailer hauling EV batteries and an 18-wheeler sent three people to the hospital. Troopers from the MSHP said the accident was reported along Interstate 44 in Rolla, Missouri.
Investigators said three as-of-yet unidentified individuals were injured when a tractor-trailer hauling electric vehicle batteries allegedly lost control and rolled in the roadway before it was hit by another 18-wheeler. Paramedics transported both tractor-trailer drivers and a passenger to a nearby hospital with injuries of an unspecified nature or severity.
According to Google Maps, Interstate 44 winds east and west through Rolla, which is roughly 105 miles southwest of downtown St. Louis.
Police are still examining the factors that may have contributed to the accident.
