On or about Monday, February 14th, 2022, around 9:50 in the morning, an accident between a tractor-trailer and a passenger vehicle left one woman dead. Troopers from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported along Interstate 20 at the 81 mile marker in Ward County, Texas.
Texas DPS spokespeople said 79-year-old Frankie Allene Weaks was killed when the passenger vehicle she was driving allegedly collided with a tractor-trailer after the car may have failed to yield at the Interstate 20/Interstate 20 service road exchange. Paramedics pronounced Weaks dead of her injuries a short time after the accident.
According to Google Maps, Interstate 20 cuts east and west through Ward County, which is roughly 191 miles southwest of downtown Lubbock.
