On or about Monday, March 7th, 2022, shortly before noon, a hit-and-run accident between a dump truck and a pedestrian left a 76-year-old woman dead. Officers from the NYPD said the accident was reported along the Hutchinson River Parkway in the Bronx, New York.
Law enforcement spokespeople said an as-of-yet unidentified 76-year-old woman was killed when she was allegedly struck by a dump truck as she was walking near or made an attempt to cross the lanes of Hutchinson River Parkway at Einstein Loop North. After the initial accident, the dump truck fled the scene. Paramedics transported the woman to a nearby hospital where she succumbed to her injuries a short time after her arrival.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is situated in the Co-Op City neighborhood of the Bronx.
Authorities are still looking for the driver and dump truck that fled the scene.
