Details:
On or about Wednesday, January 5th, 2022, sometime in the early morning hours, a major two-vehicle car accident claimed the life of a 31-year-old Louisiana man, while a man and a woman from Gary were rushed to the hospital. Troopers from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported along U.S. Highway 79 just outside of Carthage in Panola County, Texas.
Texas DPS representatives said 31-year-old Aaron Allen was killed, while 74-year-old Dale Eldredge and 61-year-old Amanda Duckworth were injured when Allen allegedly tried to pass a vehicle in the oncoming lanes and collided head-on with the vehicle Eldredge was driving. Emergency responders pronounced Allen dead of his injuries, while Edredge and Duckworth were taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries stemming from the accident.
Officials noted conditions were very foggy at the time of the collision.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is a short distance west of Carthage, which is situated about 159 miles southeast of downtown Dallas.
Police are still working to pin down exactly what happened in the accident.
