Details:
On or about Thursday, March 24th, 2022, around 12:26 in the afternoon, an accident between a box truck, a tractor-trailer, and a heavy duty pickup truck left two people dead and sent two others to the hospital. Representatives from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported along Interstate 45 just outside Alma in Ellis County, Texas.
Spokespeople from the Texas DPS said 37-year-old Alan Caro and 35-year-old Anselmo Garza were killed when the box truck they were in allegedly crossed over the center line of I-45 where it collided with a heavy-duty pickup truck driven by 48-year-old Nicholas Nunes and a tractor-trailer driven by 49-year-old Alexander Ortega. Paramedics pronounced Caro and Garza dead of their injuries a short time after the accident, while Ortega was taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries. Emergency responders treated Nunes for minor injuries at the scene.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is about 2 miles south of Alma.
Police are still investigating the accident.
