On or about Saturday, November 6th, 2021, around 3:24 in the morning, a single-vehicle box truck accident claimed the life of a 71-year-old Imes Court man. Troopers from the NCHP said the accident was reported along Highway 64 in Statesville, North Carolina.
Representatives from the North Carolina Highway Patrol said 71-year-old Charles Edward Chambers was killed when the box truck he was riding in allegedly veered off the side of Highway 64 and slammed into a tree a short distance off the pavement. Chambers was pronounced dead of his injuries after the accident. Police identified the driver of the box truck as Michael Eugene Ervin. It is not clear if Ervin was injured in the crash.
According to Google Maps, Statesville is about 41 miles north of downtown Charlotte.
