On or about Tuesday, January 25th, 2022, around 6:54 in the morning, an accident between a passenger vehicle and a garbage truck left a 22-year-old Elmwood man dead. Authorities from the area said the accident was reported at 6574 South Strawtown Pike in Marion, Indiana.
Deputies from the Grant County Sheriff’s Department said 22-year-old Corey Carter was killed when the Chevrolet Avalanche he was driving allegedly struck the back of a Republic Services garbage truck that had stopped in front of a residence. Emergency responders pronounced Carter dead of his injuries a short time after they responded to the scene of the accident.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is on the south side of Marion, which is about 85 miles north of downtown Indianapolis.
Police are still trying to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident.
