On or about Monday, February 1st, 2021, around 2:00 in the afternoon, a single-vehicle box truck sent a 24-year-old woman to the hospital. Law enforcement spokespeople said the accident happened on the southbound side of Interstate 87 in Lewis, New York.
Deputies from the Essex County Sheriff’s Office said 24-year-old Diamond Lear was seriously injured when a box truck allegedly rolled off the side of the interstate after crashing through a barrier. Lear was a passenger in the truck and was partially ejected in the accident. Authorities identified the driver of the truck as 32-year-old Edward McCray, who suffered minor injuries in the crash.
According to Google Maps, Lewis is located in Essex County, about 131 miles north of Albany.
Multiple agencies are still investigating the accident.
