Efrain Martinez-Vargas was killed and two people seriously injured in a 16 vehicle pileup along Interstate 80, at mile marker 218, in Liberty Township, near Danville, PA. The crash occurred around 2:42 a.m. on Friday, February 14, 2025, according to Pennsylvania State Police. The initial crash happened when a tractor-trailer reportedly hit a patch of black ice, sliding into the left lane, where it was struck by Martinez-Vargas. The box truck Martinez-Vargas was driving proceeded to catch fire, and lead to 14 other cars colliding with the wreck, which seriously injured two additional people.
