Details:
On or about Wednesday, December 29th, 2021, around 6:00 in the morning, an accident between a tractor-trailer and an SUV claimed the lives of a man and a woman from Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Authorities from the THP said the accident was reported along the westbound side of Interstate 40 in Lebanon, Tennessee.
Spokespeople from the Tennessee Highway Patrol said 31-year-old Gabriel Mandry was killed when the SUV he was in allegedly struck the back of a tractor-trailer on the shoulder of I-40 in foggy conditions. Mandry was pronounced dead of his injuries a short time after emergency responders arrived at the scene. Authorities identified a passenger in the SUV as 22-year-old Samantha Mandry, but police did not indicate if she sustained injuries.
According to Google Maps, Interstate 40 cuts east and west through the southern edge of Lebanon, which is situated about 31 miles east of downtown Nashville.
Police are still looking into the accident.
