Details:
On or about Tuesday, December 7th, 2021, around 9:00 at night, a major accident with a tow truck and a minivan claimed the life of one man and sent at least two others to the hospital. Law enforcement officials from the area said the accident was reported on Snow Road in Mobile County, Alabama.
Police officers said 30-year-old Jeremy Purvus was killed and two others were hurt when a heavy-duty truck dislodged from a tow truck when the tow strap unexpectedly broke. The driverless heavy-duty pickup truck subsequently slammed into a nearby van. Emergency responders pronounced Purvis dead a short time after they responded to the scene of the collision. The tow truck allegedly fled the scene of the accident.
Officials have since charged 40-year-old Claude Russell with leaving the scene of an accident involving death in connection with the incident.
Authorities are still examining the circumstances surround the crash.
