Details:
On or about Wednesday, January 5th, 2022, sometime in the hours after a dark, a serious single-vehicle car accident claimed the life of a 37-year-old woman and sent two children to the hospital. Deputies from the Gregg County Sheriff’s Office said the accident was reported in the 3500 block of West Loop 281 in Longview, Texas.
Investigators from the LPD said 37-year-old Laytonya Washington was killed and two as-of-yet unidentified children were injured when the Toyota Highlander they were in allegedly veered off the side of West Loop 281 and slammed into a tree a short distance off the pavement. Emergency responders rushed Washington and the two children to a nearby hospital where Washington succumbed to her injuries a short time after her arrival.
According to Google Maps, Longview is about 127 miles southeast of downtown Dallas.
Police are still working to determine all the factors that may have contributed to the accident.
