On or about Thursday, December 2nd, 2021, around 3:00 in the afternoon, a serious accident between a car and a tractor-trailer claimed the life of an 85-year-old Hensley man. Troopers from the ASP said the accident was reported along Highway 167 in Saline County, Arkansas.
Representatives from the Arkansas State Police said 85-year-old Melvin Wilkerson was killed when the vehicle he was driving was allegedly hit by a tractor-trailer as he was turning onto Highway 167 from a private driveway. Emergency responders rushed Wilkerson to UAMS Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries a short time after his arrival. The driver of tractor-trailer was unhurt in the accident.
According to Google Maps, Highway 167 runs north and south through Saline County, which is about 23 miles southwest of downtown Little Rock.
State Police assisted after the accident.
