Details:
On or about Saturday, November 27th, 2021, around 5:30 in the morning, a serious single-vehicle car accident left a 23-year-old man from Gun Barrell City. Troopers from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported along Highway 19 just outside Athens, Texas.
Police said 23-year-old Micheal Edward was killed when the passenger vehicle he was driving allegedly drove off the side of the road and rolled before it came to a stop upright on the side of Highway 19. Paramedics rushed Edward to UT Health Hospital where he died of his injuries a short time after his arrival.
According to Google Maps, Highway 19 runs north and south through Athens, which is about 72 miles southeast of downtown Dallas.
Officials are still investigating the accident.
