On or about Tuesday, March 23rd, 2021, just before 12:00 in the afternoon, an accident between a flatbed tractor-trailer and two SUVs sent one person to the hospital by helicopter. Police said the accident happened along Route 12 in Martinsburg, New York.
Deputies from the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office said one as-of-yet unidentified person was hurt when an 18-wheeler struck a Jeep Cherokee, pushing the Cherokee into a nearby Jeep Renegade. Emergency responders airlifted one person to the hospital with serious injuries after the accident.
Authorities closed Route 12 for six hours in order to tend to the scene of the accident.
Multiple agencies responded to aid in the accident investigation.
