Details:
On or about Friday, July 1st, 2021, around 3:25 in the morning, an accident between a dump truck and a pedestrian left one person dead. Officials said the accident was reported along Route 17 just outside Georgetown in Georgetown County, South Carolina.
Deputies from the County Sheriff’s Department said one as-of-yet unidentified person was killed when they were allegedly hit by a dump truck as they were walking alongside or trying to cross the lanes of Route 17. Emergency responders pronounced the victim dead from their injuries when they arrived at the scene of the accident. No other injuries were reported.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident on Route 17 is not far from the Snooks Court exit, a short distance outside the Georgetown city limits.
Officials are still examining the circumstances surrounding the incident.
