Details:
On or about Tuesday, January 12th, 2021, around 10:20 in the morning, a multi-vehicle accident involving a flatbed tow truck left one person dead. Troopers from the FHP said the accident happened in the northbound lanes of Highway 301 in Maxville, Florida.
Deputies from the Duval County Sheriff’s Office said one as-of-yet unidentified person was killed when the Kia Cadenza they were driving was allegedly rear-ended by a flatbed tow truck. The tow truck and the Kia subsequently collided with a Ford Expedition and a Hyundai Sonata after the initial collision. Emergency responders pronounced the driver of the Kia dead at the scene. It is not clear if any other injuries were reported stemming from the accident.
Google Maps shows Highway 301 runs north and south through the center of Maxville, which is located just outside Jacksonville.
Police hope to release the more information as soon as it becomes available.
