Details:
On or about Sunday, November 7th, 2021, around 2:30 in the morning, an accident between a rideshare vehicle and an alleged drunk driver left one individual dead and sent two others to the hospital. Deputies from the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office said the accident was reported at the intersection of North Collins Street and the Interstate 30 service road in Arlington, Texas.
Officials said one as-of-yet unidentified individual was killed and two others were injured when a car driven by Bernida Collins allegedly ran a red light at the intersection of the I-30 service road and North Collins Street when it struck a vehicle in the intersection. The driver of the Honda, who was providing a rideshare service, and two passengers were taken to a nearby hospital where one of the passengers succumbed to their injuries a short time after their arrival.
Police have since charged 50-year-old Bernida Collins with intoxication manslaughter in connection with the accident.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is about 21 miles west of downtown Dallas.
Officials are still investigating the collision.
