On or about Friday, March 18th, 2022, sometime in the morning hours, an accident between a tractor-trailer and two pedestrians left a 50-year-old man dead and sent a 29-year-old man to the hospital. Troopers from the OSHP said the accident was reported along Interstate 76 in Portage County, Ohio.
Authorities from the Ohio State Highway Patrol said an as-of-yet unidentified 50-year-old man was killed and a 29-year-old man was injured when a tractor-trailer allegedly struck two pedestrians as they were standing at the scene of an earlier accident. Paramedics pronounced one pedestrian dead a short time after the accident, while the other pedestrian was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries stemming from the accident.
According to Google Maps, Portage County is situated on the east side of Akron.
Police are still examining all the factors that may have played a role in the accident.
