On or about Sunday, January 3rd, 2022, around 7:15 in the evening, an accident between a passenger vehicle and a tractor-trailer claimed the life of one individual. Law enforcement spokespeople said the accident was reported on Excelsior Drive in Santa Fe Springs, California.
Authorities from the area said one as-of-yet unidentified individual was killed when the car they were driving allegedly struck the back of a tractor-trailer that was near or on the side of the roadway on Excelsior Drive. Paramedics pronounced the driver of the passenger vehicle dead of his injuries a short time after they arrived at the scene of the accident. Police did not mention any other injuries stemming from the accident in their initial statement on the crash.
According to Google Maps, Excelsior Drive cuts east and west through Santa Fe Springs, which is about 14 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles.
Police are still working to pin down exactly what happened in the accident.
