On or about Thursday, October 8th, 2020, around 4:29 in the morning, a chain-reaction accident with a tractor-trailer killed one person and injured another. The accident happened in the northbound lanes of Interstate 95 near the exit for Highway 61 near Canadys, South Carolina.
Troopers said that one as-of-yet unidentified individual was killed and another was injured when a van and an SUV collided, spinning the van off the road and into a nearby ditch. A passenger from the van was ejected and died at the scene. After the initial collision, a tractor-trailer struck the SUV, injuring one individual inside.
Canadys is located just north of Walterboro, about 60 miles northwest of Charleston.
Multiple law enforcement agencies are aiding in the accident investigation.
