On or about Thursday, January 28th, 2021, around 5:00 in the afternoon, an accident between a tractor-trailer and several cars left one person dead. Authorities from the area said the accident happened on Interstate 485 near Westinghouse Boulevard in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office said one as-of-yet unidentified person was killed when a tractor-trailer and three cars collided in a chain-reaction accident. Police did not elaborate on what may have started the incident in their preliminary report. One person was pronounced dead of their injuries a short time after EMS arrived at the scene.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is situated in the southwest part of Charlotte. Interstate 485 is eight lanes in the area, with a concrete barrier dividing north and southbound traffic.
