Details:
On or about Thursday, December 23rd, 2021, around 3:00 in the morning, a single-vehicle box truck fire claimed the life of one individual. Local authorities said the accident was reported along the southbound side of Interstate 85 near the exchange with Lenox Road in Dekalb County, Georgia.
Police said one as-of-yet unidentified individual was killed when the U-Haul box truck they were in burst into flames for unknown reasons while driving down Interstate 85. Emergency responders pronounced one individual in the U-Haul truck dead of their injuries a short time after they arrived at the scene. Officials did not mention any other vehicles in their statement on the incident.
According to Google Maps, Interstate 85 runs north and south into Atlanta along the western edge of Dekalb County.
Police are still working to determine the cause of the incident.
