On or about Tuesday, September 28th, 2021, around 12:45 in the afternoon, an accident between a dump truck and a car left one person dead. Officials from the WSP said the accident was reported along the southbound side of Interstate 39 in Portage, Wisconsin.
Investigators from the Wisconsin State Police said one as-of-yet unidentified person was killed when a passenger vehicle and a dump truck collided under unspecified circumstances near a construction zone on Interstate 39. Emergency responders pronounced one individual dead of their injuries a short time after the incident.
According to Google Maps, Interstate 39 runs north and south through Portage, which is about 38 miles north of Madison.
Authorities are still examining the factors that may have contributed to the accident.
