Details:
On or about Wednesday, November 17th, 2021, around 9:26 at night, an accident between a police patrol vehicle and a suspected drunk driver sent two people to the hospital. Authorities from the area said the accident was reported along the westbound side of Interstate 10 in El Paso, Texas
Investigators said an as-of-yet unidentified police sergeant was injured when a suspected drunk driver, identified as 59-year-old Pedro Garcia Dominguez, allegedly slammed into his patrol vehicle while he was blocking lanes for TXDOT vehicles on the side of I-10. The police sergeant and Dominguez were taken to the hospital with injuries of an unspecified nature or severity.
Authorities have since charged Dominguez with Driving While Intoxicated in connection with the accident.
According to Google Maps, Interstate 10 runs east and west through El Paso, with the scene of the accident located not far from the 16 mile marker.
Officials are still investigating.
