On or about Saturday, September 4th, 2021, around 9:53 in the morning, an accident between a tractor-trailer and a car claimed the life of a 79-year-old Newport man. Authorities from the ASP said the accident was reported at the intersection of Highway 167 and Highway 167 Business in Sheridan, Arkansas.
Deputies from the Grant County Sheriff’s Department said 67-year-old Raymond Martinez was killed when a tractor-trailer headed north on Highway 167 hit his car, which was passing through the intersection with Highway 167 Business. Emergency responders pronounced Martinez dead of his injuries a short time after the collision. Police did not mention any other injuries in their initial report on the crash.
According to Google Maps, Highway 167 runs north and south through Sheridan, which is situated about 34 miles south of Little Rock.
Authorities are still investigating the incident.
