Details:
On or about Monday, November 29th, 2021, a major two vehicle accident claimed the life of a 53-year-old man and sent three other people to the hospital. Representatives from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported at the intersection of Highway 80 and Farm-to-Market 1799 in Wood County, Texas.
Texas DPS officials said 53-year-old Rodney Godbey was killed and John Stewart was injured when a car allegedly failed to yield at the intersection of FM 1799 and Highway 80 and struck the car they were in. Godbey died of his injuries a short time after the accident, while Stewart was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries. Officials identified the driver of the other car as 25-year-old Marcus Counts, and passenger, 30-year-old Jessica Otto, who sustained unspecified injuries in the crash.
According to Google Maps, Wood County is situated roughly 101 miles east of downtown Dallas.
Officials are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
