On or about Friday, September 3rd, 2021, around 9:00 in the morning, an accident between a car and a log truck claimed the life of a 24-year-old woman. Deputies from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Department said the accident was reported at the intersection of Broadway and Raines Avenue in Macon, Georgia.
Officers said 24-year-old Savannah Steele was killed when her car allegedly struck several logs that were hanging off the back of a log truck. Emergency responders pronounced Steele dead of her injuries a short time after the collision. Authorities did not mention any other injuries in their initial statement on the accident.
According to Google Maps, the intersection of Broadway and Raines Avenue is a short distance south of downtown Macon.
Police are still investigating the accident.
