Details:
On or about Tuesday, November 9th, 2021, around 2:00 in the afternoon, an accident between a passenger vehicle and a tractor-trailer claimed the life of a 46-year-old Hill City man. Troopers from the KHP said the accident was reported along the westbound side of Interstate 70 in Ellsworth County, Kansas.
Investigators said 46-year-old Scott J. Compitello was killed when the car he was driving allegedly drove off the side of I-70 and slammed into a tractor-trailer that was parked on the shoulder. Paramedics pronounced Compitello dead of his injuries after the crash. Officials identified the driver of the tractor-trailer as Stephan Ray Fulk, who was unhurt in the collision.
According to Google Maps, Interstate 70 runs east and west along the northern edge of Ellsworth County, which is about 107 miles north of Wichita.
Kansas Highway Patrol assisted at the crash scene.
