Details:
On or about Thursday, December 16th, 2021, around 8:00 in the morning, a major accident between a dump truck and a pickup truck claimed the life of a 50-year-old Hoover man. State Police spokespeople said the accident was reported along the northbound side of Interstate 59 just outside Trussville in Jefferson County, Alabama.
Authorities said 50-year-old Shawn C. Wandry was killed when the pickup truck he was driving allegedly struck the back of a dump truck in or near a construction zone just off I-59. Emergency responders pronounced Wandry dead of his injuries a short time after the collision. Officials did not indicate if the dump truck was part of the construction project.
According to Google Maps, Interstate 59 cuts north and south along the northern edge of Trussville.
Police are still investigating the factors that may have contributed to the accident.
