Details:
On or about Friday, March 26th, 2021, around 6:00 in the evening, an accident between an 18-wheeler hauling cars and a passenger vehicle left a man and woman dead. Deputies from the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office said the accident happened in the northbound lanes of Interstate 196 in Covert Township, Michigan.
Authorities said a 70-year-old woman and a 72-year-old man were killed when the car they were in and a tractor-trailer hauling cars collided under unspecified conditions. Officials said the car became pinned beneath the front end of the truck following the collision. Paramedics pronounced both occupants in the car dead of their injuries at the scene of the incident.
According to Google Maps, Interstate 196 runs north and south along the eastern edge of Covert Township, which is situated on the banks of Lake Michigan.
