Details:
On or about Wednesday, March 16th, 2022, sometime in the afternoon hours, a major three-vehicle accident with two tractor-trailers and a pickup truck left two individuals dead. Spokespeople from the TSP said the accident was reported along Interstate 40 just outside Gordonsville in Smith County, Tennessee.
Authorities from the Tennessee State Police said two as-of-yet unidentified individuals were killed when a tractor-trailer allegedly pinned a passenger vehicle against the rear of another 18-wheeler along I-40. Emergency responders pronounced two people dead of their injuries a short time after the collision. Authorities did not say which vehicle the victims were in at the time of the accident.
According to Google Maps, Interstate 40 cuts east and west through Gordonsville, which is about 51 miles east of downtown Nashville.
State and local law enforcement agencies assisted after the accident.
