Details:
On or about Wednesday, January 27th, 2021, around 1:00 in the afternoon, an accident between a garbage truck and a pedestrian left a 44-year-old woman dead. Deputies from the Essex County Sheriff’s Office said the accident happened near the intersection of Little Street and Washington Avenue in Belleville, New Jersey.
Police officers said 44-year-old Ximena Aguilar was killed when she was allegedly hit by an Interstate Waste Services garbage truck as she was walking to work. Paramedics pronounced Aguilar dead of her injuries a short time after they arrived at the scene. Officers did not mention any other injuries stemming from the accident in their preliminary report.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is located about 5 miles north of downtown Newark.
Multiple agencies are investigating the accident.
