Details:
On or about Tuesday, September 7th, 2021, an accident between a pickup truck and a tractor-trailer claimed the life of a 53-year-old man and sent a 47-year-old woman to the hospital. Troopers from the FHP said the accident was reported along Interstate 10 near the exchange with Interstate 75 in Columbia County, Florida.
Law enforcement representatives from the area said one as-of-yet unidentified 53-year-old man was killed, while a 47-year-old woman was injured when the pickup truck they were in allegedly veered from the westbound lanes and struck an eastbound tractor-trailer. The 53-year-old driver of the pickup truck was pronounced dead a short time after the accident. Paramedics transported his 47-year-old passenger to the hospital by helicopter. Police did not mention any other injuries in their initial statement on the accident.
According to Google Maps, Interstate 10 runs east and west through Columbia County, which is about 59 miles west of Jacksonville.
