Details:
On or about Thursday, October 22nd, 2020, around 8:15 in the morning, an accident between a school bus and a tractor-trailer sent the bus driver to the hospital. The accident happened just outside of the bus barn just off Highway 61 in Muscatine, Iowa.
Authorities said that one person was injured when a Muscatine Community School Bus was allegedly broadsided by a tractor-trailer owned by River Valley Cooperative. A private vehicle transported the bus driver to UnityPoint Trinity-Muscatine to be treated for unspecified minor injuries. The driver of the tractor-trailer did not report injuries after the crash.
There were no students on the bus at the time of the collision.
Based on photos from the scene, the collision may have taken place at the intersection with Isett Avenue, which runs north and south, while Highway 61 runs east and west. The intersection is protected by a stoplight according to Google Streetview. Muscatine is located roughly 28 miles west of Davenport.
The investigation into the collision is still ongoing.
