Details:
On or about Tuesday, November 3rd, 2020, around 10:25 in the morning, an accident between a car and a tractor-trailer claimed the lives of two people. California Highway Patrol said the accident happened on Cajalco Road near the intersection with La Sierra Avenue in Lake Mathews, California.
Police said 32-year-old Dave D’Elia and 32-year-old Ashley Slater were killed when the eastbound car they were in was allegedly struck head-on by a tractor-trailer that crossed from the westbound lanes. Both Slater and D’Elia were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The driver of the 18-wheeler did not report injuries.
Google Maps shows Cajalco Road is two lanes that run east and west through a fairly rural area near the shores of Lake Mathews. The area is located about 60 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles.
State and local law enforcement are examining the factors surrounding the accident.
