On or about Sunday, December 5th, 2021, around 3:22 in the afternoon, an accident between a tractor-trailer and a Good Samaritan tending to the scene of an accident claimed the life of a 21-year-old Alaska woman. Representatives from the KSP said the accident was reported along Interstate 70 near the exchange with Southwest West Union Road in Shawnee County, Kansas.
Authorities from the Kansas Highway Patrol said 21-year-old Autumn Johnson was killed when a tractor-trailer allegedly struck her as she was assisting at the scene of a previous accident along Interstate 70. Emergency responders pronounced Johnson dead of her injuries a short time after the accident, but it is not clear if she died at the scene or after being rushed to a nearby hospital.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is situated on the western side of Shawnee County, which is about 74 miles west of Kansas City.
Officials are still working to pin down the factors that may have contributed to the accident.
