On or about Friday, July 1st, 2022, sometime in the early morning hours, a hit-and-run accident between a pedestrian and a passenger vehicle left an 11-year-old boy dead. Officials from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported along Farm-to-Market Road 1696 in Walker County, Texas.
Law enforcement representatives from the area said 11-year-old A’zyrria Murphy-Jones was killed when he was allegedly hit by a vehicle while he was walking alongside or made an attempt to cross the lanes of FM 1696. After the accident, the vehicle fled the scene. Emergency responders pronounced Murphy-Jones dead of his injuries when he was found after the accident.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the incident is a short distance from Huntsville.
