Details:
On or about Wednesday, April 28th, 2021, around 8:27 in the morning, an accident between a car and a tractor-trailer left a 65-year-old woman dead, and sent a 33-year-old man to the hospital. Deputies from the Phillips County Sheriff’s Office said the accident happened at the intersection of Highway 242 and Highway 49 in West Helena, Arkansas.
Police said 65-year-old Barbara Green was killed when her car was allegedly struck by a tractor-trailer driven by 33-year-old Taracella Barnes. Green was apparently turning onto southbound Highway 49 when the tractor-trailer hit her car. Paramedics pronounced Green dead of her injuries at the scene of the accident. Barnes was injured in the accident, but it is not clear if he died at the scene or after being taken to a nearby hospital.
According to Google Maps, Highway 242 runs east and west, while Highway 49 runs north and south through West Helena, which is 114 miles west of Little Rock.
Police hope to release the findings of their investigation at a later date.
